Elements of Folk Concert in Yetminster Dorset

October 21st, 2013

Yetminster Fair Association; David Torrance and Philip Jubb organised a brilliant folk concert.

All performers on stage tigether for the finale

* Bonny Sartin of the Yetties did a sterling job as compere – with his hilarious song about rabbits

* Pete Christie – enjoying jamming and playing with everyone on stage, back stage and in the kitchen session

* Homesick Gypsy – Gypsy Folk, Jazz and moody blues:
Lead vocals and Rhythm guitar- Stef Mizrany (‘Cat’ song fun in the kitchen session)
Upright Bass- Lionel Lowe (Great Jammer)
Violin-Naomi Williams (her highlight was dueting with Tommy)
Guitar- Joe Ferdinand (great young player – got me into gypsy jazz)

* Tom McConville – ‘The Newcastle Fiddle Player’ and BBC Folk Musician of the Year 2009, warm voice and a splendid sense of humour full of delightful anecdotes with Andy Watt doing great things on his lovely handmade moon Guitar

We hear the audience rather liked us and we sold lots of albums to happy music lovers!!

“…It truly was an exceptional experience and the superlatives in the returned questionnaires are telling us how much you were all appreciated.

We knew it was going to be fun with all the jamming that went on before things started and the concert finale was certainly something to be remembered…”
David Torrance, YFA Treasurer

There are plenty of concert images on the Pete Christie Facebook page and some video footage of the concert finale with all singer songwriters and musicians onstage together doing an impromptu collaboration.
