UK Roots Movement Singer Songwriters at Folk On The Quay

June 20th, 2013

Part of UK Roots Movement – Pete Christie, Alex Roberts and Andy Grant are performing together as the Headline act at Harbour Lounge, part of the ‘Folk On The Quay’ festival

Folk On The Quay 2013 will be at various locations along Poole Quay, in Dorset, on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June 2013

Pete Christie, Alex Roberts and Andy Grant will be participating in this music festival at 9pm Saturday 29 June 2013. Pete Christie was asked to host and headline the Harbour Lounge event and thought what great fun it would be again to get fellow UK Roots Movement musicians; Alex Roberts and Andy Grant to along also; there will be plenty of fingerstyle guitar technique, guitars and singer songwriter folk and roots material that night!

This is a new festival brought together by Poole Tourism and Folk Dorset; Paul Burke and Catherine Burke, both of which are accomplished musicians and event organisers, who run the famous Bournemouth Folk Club and more recently started putting on the beautiful Purbeck Folk Festival. Pete Christie will be playing again this year at Purbeck Folk Festival on Saturday, August 24th, on the  Fire Stage, at 10pm.

Poole’s Folk On The Quay festival is a FREE event with top folk acts, world music and dancing. What a great location with fantastic views over the harbour!

The Saturday evening will have a street concert and 3 stages, ceilidh dances and lots of other attractions through the weekend with local pub landlords also hosting music along the Quay.

Pete Christie performing at Purbeck Folk Festival 2012

August 1st, 2012

The Purbeck Folk Festival takes place literally yards away from my garden, at Wilkswood Farm in Langton Matravers, near Swanage, in Dorset. According to Google, I am one  of a select number of  ‘Isle of Purbeck Folk musicians‘ and happily, this year, not only am I performing twice at the festival, but I am very proud to have been given the privilege of opening the acoustic stage on Friday 24th August.

The Purbeck Folk Festival was started in 2009 and is run by Paul Burke and Catherine Burke, who run Bournemouth Folk Club and Phil Watkins and Mick Callaghan from Centre Stage, a popular music venue in Bournemouth.

Purbeck Folk Festival is a family friendly event for 1,500, held in three big barns, on a working farm, set in the Purbeck Hills, with fabulous views across Swanage Bay.

Purbeck Folk Festival covers the broader definition of folk and world music, focussing on quality music. The festival line-up always includes some of the best young folk artists, national bands, some internationally known artists and the best of Dorset’s local music scene.  There are more than 30 top folk, roots and world music acts,  including acclaimed singer-songwriter KT Tunstall to headline the festival.

I am performing on the Main Stage – Long Barn Stage at 7pm on Friday 24 August and by all accounts this is the main stage.

TIME CHANGE :Then performing again on Saturday 25 August on the Fire Stage at 7.40pm
