A great night of independent singer/songwriter guitar playing at Mr Kyps
Mr Kyps is always a great place to play; after playing there on a regular basis to some enthusiastic audiences, I consider it my musical home.
Derrin Nauendorf is a great guitarist and endorsed by Yamaha guitars. Blues Matters magazine calls Derrin “Simply Spellbinding”.
We have shared a stage on many occasions. I really enjoy how his songwriting is developing. We have a different approach to writing songs and even to playing guitar and our guitars of choice but we share a lot of similar philosophies on life and that’s what song writing is about.
An Australian native, Derrin, is more of a roots-based blues musician and I am still trying to determine which genre I can be categorised by; some say roots-based folk, some say sparse, one friend, who invited me to play at the RSA, called my sound ‘music stylings’; if I am a ‘Purbeck folk musician’ it is because the lyrics are heartfelt and speak directly to the listener.
Derrin has a new studio album out later this year and lots of touring in between. We both enjoy being on the road, sharing our music.
